Chalet Surprise is a gem in the quiet and sunny “Hogiblätt" section of the Swiss mountain village of Saas-Fee. New owners have updated the interior of this charming chalet with modern comforts. Just 230 m from the parking lot and 30 m from the ski bus stop, the Chalet Surprise offers easy access to year-round mountain activities.
The Surprise chalet is a stand-alone 50-year old cottage that has been newly updated in 2021. The chalet offers guests the comforts of home with a charming mountain holiday feel. Guests have access to all rooms in the two-story chalet with 76 m2 living space. Guests will enjoy the uncluttered modern asthetic, with Wi-Fi access, USB-C/A chargers, and Sonos speaker. In Jan 2021, the kitchen was newly eqipped with new cooking pots, pans and untensils, serving dishes and plates, Nespresso machine and milk foamer, toaster, mixer and many other food prep items. The house also has raclette and fondue sets for guest use. In Nov 2021, the entire house was repainted, and the main living room was equipted with a solid walnut wood dining table, new lighting, shelves and modern chalet design pieces. The master bedroom was updated with a new bed, a Swiss design classic 'Habit Hans Gugelot' and a new premium mattress, the 'Emma mattress', for a refreshing night sleep. The double room and bunk bed rooms all have new premium mattresses and new bedframes. The duvets are new with ecological, anti-allergic and anti-microbial bamboo fiber filling that is breathable and maintains an ideal sleep climate for guests. Likewise, the pillows are new 2021 additions, down filled with choice of soft, med and hard. High quality guest linens and towels are also new in 2021, and are included with rental. Two hammam towels are provided for guest use at Saas-Fee pool or spa facilites.
The chalet is strictly non-smoking on premise and pets are not allowed. The chalet is particularly suited to toddlers and childern starting from age 2 years, with shared outdoor garden space perfect for snow play in winter. The rental price does not include the tourist tax (Kurtaxe), which is a required visitor tax by the town of Saas-Fee. Guests of Chalet Surprise recieve a large discount of the tourist tax of about 50%. A SaastalCard is issued to each guest upon payment of the tourist tax. The SaastalCard gives discounted parking, free use of the local Post bus in Saas valley, many free summer cable car lifts, and other local discounts. Please inquire to hosts if you have questions.

Rental prices vary depending on the season. A refundable CHF 500.- security deposit is collected with the rental charge. The final cleaning charge is 150.00 CHF. Cleaning during the stay can be added for 100.00 CHF per clean. For guests staying for 2 weeks or longer, mid-rental professional cleaning is added automatically.

House Rules
Absolutely no smoking inside the chalet. No more than the agreed number of guests allowed. All guests must be registered with the host before arrival. Before departure all trash and recycling must be disposed, clean kitchen items (dishes, silverware, etc..) stored in the original position, and any household items moved during guest stay returned to original places. Contact the host as soon as possible in case of property or household damage. The charge for a lost key is 60 CHF.
Payment
Payment is due in full 30 days before check-in by bank transfer or credit card. Bookings via credit card incur a 3% surcharge. If a booking is made within 10 days of arrival, hosts will contact guests concerning payment by credit card.
Cancelation
Free cancellation until 30 days prior to arrival date by check-in time 15:00. For example, if arriving 31th of the month with check-in at 15:00, then free cancelation until 1st of the month at 15:00. Cancel between 30 days and 24 hours prior to check in, and get a 50% refund, minus the first night. Cancel within 24 hours prior to arrival and there is no refund.

Security deposit
Security deposit of 500 CHF is collected by your hosts with payment. The security deposit will be returned within 10 business days of departure date. In the event of damage, the hosts will contact guests immediately.

The chalet is located in a charming residential area with predominately original stand-alone chalets. The area receives the most sun in the village, and is well positioned next to the public parking lot and near the largest kids playground. A free ski bus connects directly to the lifts during the winter season, and the Chalet Surprise is 30 m from the nearest bus stop. The nearest grocery store called ‘Pam’ is a 5 min walk, with the ‘COOP’ and ‘Migros’ supermarkets a 10 min flat walk to the town center. 12 min of easy flat walking through well maintained streets brings you to the ski lifts. Saas-Fee is a small Swiss mountain village famous for the surrounding 4000 meter peaks and glaciers, and for the mountain activities on offer year round. Saas-Fee is car-free, enhancing the sublime charm of the traditional mountain village. For an alpine village at 1800m, Saas-Fee offers a surprisingly varied choice of restaurants with local and international flavors. The town is particularly suited as a base for families as well as alpine enthusiasts, with infrastructure catering to needs from beginners to experts seeking mountain holiday experiences. In addition to three supermarkets, the town also has a bank, pharmacy, and multiple gift shops.
Arrival
Saas-fee is a car free town. Guests arriving by car will park in the large public parking area upon arrival. The chalet is very easily reachable by foot (about 260m) via “Parkstrasse” and then “Hohgeblätt.” In case you have a lot of luggage, it is recommended to take the longer way via “Grosses Moos”, as this road is flat and ist plowed more regularly during the winter. Guests are welcome to call an electro-taxi for door to door service.
Skibus
The ski bus departs only 30m from the chalet every 20 minutes in the morning until about 11:00. Return trips back to the chalet start after 15:00. Ski bus services are available from mid-December to mid-April.
